Sunday Community Day

The finale of our ‘community day’ culminates with a relaxing Twenty20 cricket match between Bradon Forest staff and students vs Purton Village players.

Spectators can enjoy a BBQ or cream tea (or both!) while listening to the delights of the Bradon Forest Concert Band, featuring musicians from Commonweal school and other special guests...

Imagine sitting back on the field, basking in the sunshine and enjoying your Sunday. What a way to end the festival! All are welcome to this free event, so the more the merrier!

Alternative Fairytales

The Alternative Fairytales have been devised and performed entirely by the Braodn Forest Key Stage 3 Drama Club. They have been working on the tales for a few months, and performed them in the theatre back in May. We are excited to present the group once again with some possible new developments!

The Little Prince

Adapted from the much loved book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, ‘The Little Prince’ is a charming tale of the follies of mankind and the real joys of life. This multi-media version is a story for both young and old; told with puppets, masks and imagination.

Performed by Bradon Forest students.

Celebration of Dance

The hour of dance on Saturday night features not only The Bradon Forest Dance company (‘In The Ring’ and ‘Garba Dance’), but also top class contemporary performances from The Youth Dance Academy (see program below) and The Different Dance Company.

The world famous circus school have put together this amazing show, especially for the Big Top Festival! Not to be missed. It will include extracts form their annual showcase – You Take My Breath Away - which this year will tour through London, Cardiff and Glastonbury after its premier in Bristol.

Garba Dance Workshop

The celebrations for the festival will run over the course of the week, with workshops organised during school time for our students. One of these exciting projects is being run by Sangita Kapadia from Sangita Arts.

Garba Dance is a traditional dance form from Gujarat State in India. Dancers wear colourful costumes and dance in a circular formation whilst engaging in distinct and flowing hand and feet movements in time with Garba music. Garba Dance is performed by Indians especially during an annual nine night festival called Navratri and also during wedding time.

A group of our students will learn this dance during the Friday workshop. Their performance will be choreographed by Sangita, who will also join the students during the Saturday dance hour.

‘In The Ring’

As we speak, Marie-Louise Flexen, the highly regarded dance theatre choreographer and performer, is in the dance studio working with a group of gifted and talented key stage 3 students to develop a piece of new performance for the festival.

‘In The Ring’ is an exciting new project that will be developed over four full day workshops with Marie-Lou and then polished during after school sessions with Hannah Guy, our resident dance teacher. The students are experimenting with different dance, clown and physical theatre techniques to devise a highly entertaining show... it's hard not to sit in and watch the piece unfold!

Celebration of Music

On Friday 10th, the Big Top opens it's stage for the music evening. The black tie event will be a celebration of live music, hosting the finals of the Bradon Forest instrumental, vocal and ‘Battle of the Bands’ competitions which have been running over the last few months. Resident school band 'The Plastic Fiction' will be given a run for their money from the many new bands resulting from Rock School. The prestigious evening will end with a special performance from guest judges… The Dacoits! Don't forget your dancing shoes!
